| 3rd day of the ASEAN Para Games 2022 recap: 15 gold for Indonesia |
THE COMET News, Jakarta - As the third day of the ASEAN Para Games 2022 began on Tuesday, August 2, Indonesian para-athletes managed to momentarily take the lead in the medal count with 34 medals, 15 of which were gold. With nine gold medals, Indonesia outpaces Vietnam and Thailand, which are placed second and third.
On August 1, Indonesian para-athletes won the majority of the gold medals in a variety of sports, including para-swimming, para-athlete, para-powerlifting, and para-table tennis. The medals were partially earned, but they haven't been formally logged because the ceremony hasn't taken place.
On the opening day of the 2022 ASEAN Para Games para-swimming competition at Jatidiri Stadium in Semarang, the Indonesian team won seven gold medals.
In the men's 100-meter SB7 breaststroke, Aris Wibawa took home the first gold medal. The second gold went to Rino Saputra in the men's 100-meter freestyle, event number S9.
Meliana Ratih Pratama (50 meters backstroke), Tangklisan Steven Sualang (50 meters backstroke men's S10), Zaki Zulkarnain (100 meters freestyle men's S8), the 4x100 meter mixed style relay team (49 points), and the 4x100 meter freestyle relay team (34 points) all won gold medals.
Indonesian Para-Swimming Coach Coordinator Dimin stated that he really set a goal of 10 medals for the first day, but three numbers were missing. Seven gold (medals), nine silver, and seven bronze medals are the overall gains for today, according to Dimin.
Only two of the 11 gold medals that para-athletics contributed were acknowledged. Slamet Widodo, the athletics coach for Indonesia, noted that the increase surpassed his initial goal of 10 gold medals. "There is a desire for athletics to contribute as many medals as possible and for Indonesia to win the overall title. Thankfully, it has been operating today and is on target "Slamet remarked.
Six gold and four silver medals were temporarily provided by the para-table tennis branch. The gold medals were delivered by Sella Dwi Radayana, Jeje Juliyani, and Aminah from the TT10 class and Hamidah and Suwarti from the women's team in the TT8 class, according to NPC Indonesia Table Tennis Coach Bayu Widihapsara Purba.
Additionally, the men's team won gold thanks to TT10 competitors Komet Akbar and David Yakob. Aman Suratman, Hilmi Hazizi, Banyu Tri Mulyo, Supriatna Gumilar, and Kusnanto from class TT9, M Rian Prahasta, Leo Nardo Aritonang from class TT8, and the men's team TT4 also won gold.
Para-powerlifting, which won three gold medals, was another area of sport that produced gold. Eneng Paridah, Ni Nengah Widiasih, and Rani Puji Astuti are the recipients of medals.
